I'm going to have to say the Reyburn Session D is one of the best whistles I've ever put my hands on. It has a pure sound like a Sindt, but is louder and can be heard in a noisy pub. Much like a Susato in terms of volume, but far less shrill and won't hurt your ears when playing. I would recommend it over the Burke and Copeland whistles as well. It is extremely responsive like a Copeland, but I would have to say even more so. It picks up crans like a dream. I've gotten hooked on doing a three fingered cran with a tap at the end but most whistles don't respond quickly enough. This whistle sings it right out. Most whistles can't seem to handle an ornament like that. It is also quite capable of pushing notes out with some force if you want dynamics. Yet another thing most whistles can't handle that this one does. The lower notes on this whistle seem strong as well. A lot of the time it seems like the D on whistles is weak or cracks even with good control. This whistle produces a very strong and fairly consistent tone all the way up and down. Highly recommend it and will be purchasing more in the future.
